Strange days

Well the weather here in CO is certainly much different than NY. After riding in the snow this weekend, today I was out in a short sleeve jersey and shorts! Though the next few days we might see some snow, it’s a far cry from what I grew up with. I mean, might be back out in the knee warmers for the weekend!
Weird Weather

So yesterday, Sarah goaded me into rock climbing over at the indoor rock climbing gym. I’ve never been climbing, how hard can it be right? Firstly, I’m glad they pad the floors, secondly I’m built to ride bikes not climb walls. We started off doing a little “bouldering” then moved onto the wall. I made it to the top on an easy line, then I looked down. Not good idea, f$@k! How do I get down. Sarah is yelling at me to just lean back and let the auto-billet do the work. Yeah right, can’t they just open the roof and let me climb down via a ladder? After some yelling and some adrenaline, I finally let go. Yah, I can ride narrow singletrack on a 400ft ridge no problem, but can’t jump off a fake wall while connected to a rope. A few more times up the wall and we were having a blast.

That was till this morning, when I woke up. My forearms, fingers, triceps, shoulders hurt. I could barely lift my arms over my head. Whoa…

With that I decided to pay Sarah back with some “rock climbing” of my own. We headed over to Heil Ranch for a trip up and over to Picture Rock.

Sarah Ripping it up at Heil

We had a blast and she suffered a lil bit due to the lack of Oxygen, but she handled the rocks and terrain with ease.

Seeing as I have no helmet cam, I invented the mouth cam! Yup, digital camera in my mouth. Not too shabby. Though the camera is slightly bigger than my mouth so my jaw is a little sore. I have some great downhill footage, but I zoomed in a little too much and it didn’t come out so nice.

So the iframe I embedded auto-started the video and that’s not good, specially if you have the volume up! The youtube video is crappy, but here’s a link to a the same video, but little better quality.

Tomorrow will begin day 1 of my daily commute into Boulder, hopefully the snow stay’s away. Looking forward to a good warm weekend of riding!

Well, SOMEONE made me take two flippin’ weeks off :) 2 weeks off + lack of oxygen= struggle!! Still a blast, though. Just a very slow blast for me.

Climbing is hard. Good for total body strength, though. And hand strength.

Climbing is an awesome workout but the fist few times back are always painful – in a good way of course!

I feel my Most fit when I climb a few times A week. Great full body workout and balance booster. Teaches you to commit to a route and rewards you when you finish it. I heart climbing.
